The Story of Christ's Death 耶稣之死
The arrival of Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ" is a milestone in modern culture. Only a superstar like Gibson could both afford the US$25 million that the movie cost and attract talented technicians and actors like Jim Caviezel, who plays Jesus.
The story covers the last 12 hours of Christ's life. After eating a final meal with his 12 disciples, Jesus was arrested. The Roman governor asked the crowd gathered outside the court what they wanted him to do with Jesus. They answered, "Kill him!" Jesus was then tortured and crucified. ("Crucify" means to kill someone by nailing him to a cross and leaving him to die.) Jesus died on a Friday; on Sunday he rose from the dead.
Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus on Easter, which is April 11 this year. The Friday before Easter is called Good Friday. "The Passion of the Christ" tells the story of Easter.
The filmmaking is energetic and exciting. Gibson has directed twice before, including the Oscar -winning "Braveheart," and he knows how to get the effects he wants. Caviezel is a good choice as Jesus. His eyes and presence are convincing. Filming in Aramaic and Latin was a good idea that makes the movie seem more believable and realistic.
The film is extremely violent. Most of the movie consists of graphic scenes of Jesus being tortured and killed. The filmmakers insist that this violence is essential because it accurately shows what a crucifixion was like, and because it helps people understand the extent of the sacrifice Jesus made for humanity.
人死后不能复活—这是世俗的或者科学的真理,但是这不是宗教的真理,所有的宗教都有着一个有意或者无意延长人的生命的意义的功能。
