作文范文:On the Purchase of Books One scholar in Ancient China said that one wouldn't read books unless they were borrowed from other people because he himself failed to read the books he kept. Many people believe in this idea and consider it a waste of money to purchase books. But as a student, it is only too natural for us to buy books. My philosophy of purchasing books is that I only buy books that are frequently used and indispensable to our study. One type of books that may be called indispensable are dictionaries. As a language learner, it is necessary to possess a dictionary so that we can go over what we have learned whenever we want to. These books are tools. They form the of my purchase. Another type of books are related to our major, necessary for our further study. But if I don't use them so frequently, I'd rather make use of the library rather than purchase them. The third type of books I purchase mainly concern humanities, relating to our life-long self-cultivation. No matter what kind of books I'd like to purchase, my idea is that I will buy books that will surely be made full use of. Books are not for decoration. So long as we keep this in mind, we won't "waste" money on books.
