With computers settling down in millions of families and the Internet extending to every corner of the world,conventional libraries are losing their popularity among some readers. Are libraries useless nowadays? People’s answers differ about this question. Some people, espectially the younger generation,challenge the value of conventional libraries.They are familiar with the cyberspace and good at surfing in the Internet. They care more about efficiency and  fast rhythm.Whenever they want to read a new book,they’d rather order it by telephone or even by the Internet. When they need any information in their studies or work,the first thing they probably do is to switch on the personal computers and search for the information in the Internet.What’s the good of traveling all the way to a library and joining the long queue of waiting readers just for borrowing or returning one or two books?What’s more,libraries are shut sometimes for this or that reason,which is no less than a hard blow for those who need it urgently.In a word,young people believe that to go to the library is a waste of time and energy.They regard libraries as useless.While others,including most old people as well as some scholars,still value libraries.For them,libraries witnessed their happiness and sorrow when they were young students at school.Especially for those scholars,libraries are always part of their careers in the pursuit of science and truth.They love libraries because they can enjoy peace and quietness in an isolated spiritual world.They also have access to rare academic works needed for their studies in the  speaking,the libraries,as storehouses of knowledge and wisdom,will never become useless in these people’s eyes.In my opinion,conventional libraries are still useful though there is still much room for improvement.At the Age of Information,libraries won’t extinct from our lives as long as knowledge is respected and cherished. On the other hand,libraries shouldn’t reject the latest information technology,which will enable them to regain those young readers.
